How come nobody does squats to exhaustion? Just curious....

Usually because their muscles will be burning like crazy before exhaustion.

Also in the EP (Exercise Physiology) world we tell clients to stop when their form starts to drop. And that is irregardless of what exercise their doing

Off thread topic, but-

Which is why it is not a bad idea (though some may tend to disagree) to use weights, as it makes form a much more conscious thing. :)

The same could be said for pushups/pullups/kicks/punches to exhaustion though, but it is those last few reps after your body wants to give up (and when you have to make your mind push through the barrier) that increase skill and endurance and push past plateaus.

Week starting 27 July:

Running 4 days, total mileage just under 30 miles. Tapering down for half marathon a week from Sunday.

2 workouts, emphasis on kihon and kata, have a test this weekend as a part of a Gasshuku. Fortunately for me it's my first test in Kyokushin so I don't think it will be TOO tough...

Hey Hammer, which half marathon are you doing?

I'm an avid runner, have run several marathons and am thinking about doing a half next year. Possibly the Philadelphia half, still debating.

Monadnock Half Marathon in Rindge NH. No I'm not running up the mountain...but the course does look a bit hilly.
