Greek Fighter
I once was practicing my punching when I was doing Shotokan for a little bit, and popped my middle knuckle very bad. I almost cried, and the sensei I had felt very bad. He then sat me down and got ian ice pack for me. After twenty minutes, it was numb and I continued the lesson. We finished the rest of the lesson with feet. I lived very close at the time and he drove me home. After that, I participated in Tai-Chi instead and loved it. I was hurt bad and was in tremendous pain. He was a good guy, and he said I was welcomed back in Shotokan anytime I wanted to, and I was still a fighter. Shotokan was hard to do. It took my knuckle a few months to heel. Sadly, he got into a bad accident which now has him disabled and was forced to close down his dojo. I haven't seen him since, but know he is no longer capable of training again.
bushido_man96
Man, that's terrible. Sorry to hear about that, for both you and the instructor. My worst injury has been a pulled hamstring muscle. I got over it just a few months ago, but the leg is still a little tight, compared to the other one. When it went, I couldn't believe how that felt. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
username8517
In my old Silat class, one of my training partners decided to do a little bit of horseplaying when we were practicing throws. At 6'3 and 250 lbs, I'm not a little guy by any means, but my partner was huge--6'6 easy and 300 lbs of mostly muscle. This guy made me look small. The set up was the defender would side step an attack, guntine the attackers arm on the hand and forearm (for the purposes of breaking in actual application but obviously this was just practice) then step in for a take down. For some reason my partner had a hard time grasping the concept that he probably wouldn't be able to avoid the takedown. I tried explaining it to him that the reason it was hard to defend against was because I was coming in from the outside and the closest arm he had to me had just had the hand and forearm broke--basically not alot of options for him. He gave me a "yeah whatever" answer and we went to run through it again. So as his attack comes in, I sidestep and throw two quick guntines to "break" the hand and forearm respectively. Then as I slide in for the throw, I hear his yeah, "WATCH THIS!" as the arm I just "broke" came back across the side of my head for a clothesline. Well my leg was already in posting behind his leg, and (from what I've been told) went I got hit I literally went 90 degrees sideways--to the right. My leg was caught under his as my body went in a completely opposite direction--thus blowing my ACL.I went back to Silat after my surgury and rehab for a bit and my old partner was no longer there. And I never bothered to ask if he was asked to leave or did so on his own accord.

Greek Fighter
It's tough when you get hit on such delicate targets like your fingers or your toes for that matter.

daizyblackbelt
my training has been quite sketchy recently as i'm no longer in my home town, working through college, and trying to start a karate club here at my university. But i decided to compete in an in style tournament, just for fun. one of my friend's and i always compete in the entertainment division for kicks and we always (ALWAYS) make it up the night before. we were practicing our fight scene the morning of the tournament, and he swept me, and he did it quite well, but i landed on my butt. on his knee.he was fine of course, but my leg was pretty much useless. but i walked it off, and stretch it, and it seemed to just be a nasty bruise. so i decided to compete in kata, but not in sparring.the 3rd to last move of my kata (chatanyara kusanku) is a double flying front kick. on the second kick, my right leg (the same one that was already injured) made an odd popping noise. i landed on it in a front stance and performed the last two moves, in cat stances (all the weight on the back leg) managing to keep from showing it.and then i limped back to the sidelines.on the plus side, my leg is finally getting better. the bruise healed after a month or so (it was the most impressive shades of purple, blue, black, green, and yellow), and the hamstring was pulled just like bushido_man's. Eric7_27
My worst injury wasn't in martial arts, but my second one is. (I get hurt by the stupidest ways...) I slipped off a vine from a tree at my grandma's house and fell about 10-12 feet from the ground on my hip. I dislocated my leg. Karate has helped that though since it doesn't pop much anymore. That was pretty bad- couldn't move it, and had to crawl and roll on the floor to get throughout the house. Worst part was nobody believed me- so no one took me to the hospital! eventually it somehow got better and was able to move it later on. It hurt SO bad if I sneezed, coughed, laughed, anything! hahaAnother time was at a tournament though--- I kicked shins with this big guy- It hurt incredibly, more so later on than during the match. Thought I fractured it- but just bruised the bone some. That was a very weird injury since it hurt everywhere but the place I hit it. which is reffered pain if you want to look it up
Elky
It's tough when you get hit on such delicate targets like your fingers or your toes for that matter.Yeah, ouch! My two worst injuries were exactly that! I broke my little finger by hitting someone on the sternum, but it caught at a funny angle and my finger took the whole impact. Broke my little toe going for a foot sweep and clashed feet with the other guy.
ninjanurse
I got kicked in the temple by a student, who was in the wrong place, who was doing a full-step jump wheel kick. At the time he weighed about 230 and I only about 110. Knocked me out but luckily (very luckily) I did not die. It took several months for me to recover my reading skills and to this day I have some aphasia when I get tired or frustrated. The kids laugh....as do I! What are you donna do?! At least now I have an excuse for not being normal!!!!
