bushido_man96 Posted January 16, 2007 Posted January 16, 2007 Don't get me wrong, I am constantly fine tuning my techniques from white belt on up because I teach ( and that is great ), but just once in awhile, I wish my instructor would take 10 - 15 minutes to work with me on my Nidan to Sandan requirements. As with everyone else though, once I get to class, I usually have a great time.I can relate to that. I wish that we had a black belt class where we could work on advanced training and things that we don't work on in traditional classes with the colored belts. It would also get us out of the teaching atmosphere, and help us to keep primed for learning new things. I believe it also helps to prevent burnout. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

baronbvp Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 This morning I felt like not going to my Muay Thai class. But I went anyway. My instructor was not there, so I trained with the only other three guys who showed up. In a way, it was better. We trained what we wanted, when we wanted, with each other without the pressure of oversight. I got a lot out of it. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.
baronbvp Posted February 10, 2007 Posted February 10, 2007 Something else I just thought of: have you ever regretted going afterward when you made yourself go? Not me. That is the greatest inspiration when I'm lethargic, whether it's for class or to workout at home - after I train, I'm always glad I did. Only as good as I make myself be, only as bad as I let myself be.Martial arts are like kinetic chess. Your move.

I don't think I've ever forced myself to go to a class and then not blown off whatever stress, fatigue, hang ups, etc while in class.
