How Much and What Style?

Killer Miller

Recommended Posts

1. How much do you pay to train per month?

2. What style?

3. How may days a week are classes offered?

4. Special perks - such as gym membership?

I'm interested to see what the average ends up being? Please don't give me averages, give me exact amounts. If we get a significant amount of posts, I'll do the analysis... Might be some good infor for those trying to determine if their dojo is a real dojo or a "McDojo."

Please try to reply in a 1., 2., 3., 4. point format for easy data entry into a database.

I pay €65/3 months. That's a little over €21 a month. I practice shotokan karate in The Netherlands. American gyms are more expensive I think.

Train harder!

Currently I pay nothing to train. (a perk of being an instructor :D )

But the place where our dojo is at is in a rec center. Membership to the rec center was either $80 or $125 for a year (prices went up a bit since the new year, I think like an extra $20 but I'm not positive)--depending on whether you live in that particular city or not--but that also includes free access to all the other facilities such as a weight room, track, swimming pool, gymansium, aerobics room, baby sitting services, game room, etc.

Not a bad deal in my opinion.

Do you know what this would equate to in dollars?

As far as classes go, my school offers 4 days per week to show up, with no limit as to how many. We pay per month, not per class. Each class is an hour long.

I'm not 100% certain, but I think that would be around $26-$27?

Me being a yellow belt (7th kyu), I can train 3x a week for 1.5 hours. Once I get to the orange belt (6th kyu) I can train 5x a week for 1.5 hours.

21 euros is about 28 US dollars at the moment.
