YODA Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I'd say.... Jack Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I think.. Muay Thai - Simple, effective, easy to learn - very direct and powerful with simple tools to use in a fight. Wing Chun - Many theories in WC, like Centreline theory. Alongside with the sensitivity training, very complementary. And then a groundfighting art, BJJ is as good as any. YODA Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Yo Jack Good choice - but if you're trying to cover all areas don't you think it's wise to be able to use a weapon these days? Or at least be familiar enough with basic weapons skills that you can defend against them? "Know your enemy". tessone Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Certainly any combinations that covers striking, kicks, grappling, and weapons. Are there any other traditional arts that cover all four of these? Kuk Sool has elements of all, though from what I've seen the striking aspect is emphasized less than others. Chris TessoneBrown Belt, Kuk Sool Won
muaythaidm Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I would have to say: Muay Thai - stand up striking BJJ - I hear it is the best grapling art Kali and/or Silat - for weapons
G95champ Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 Lets say Shotokan or traditonal Karate focus on use of legs and arms about the same. Akkido for avoiding and take downs BJJ for on the gound Ninjitsu for weapons (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Blade13 Posted May 12, 2002 Posted May 12, 2002 I would say.... Muay Thai Wing Chun Ninpo or Ninjutsu- battle tactics, stealth, weapons, spiritual aspects, etc. Capoeira- to add some fun Kobudo- wider weapons range BJJ- grappling Wow. That would take a LONG time to learn. lol
Karateka_latino Posted May 14, 2002 Posted May 14, 2002 Boxing-hands Muay Thai kickboxing-knees, elbows, low/high kicks. Wrestling-takedowns. BJJ/submission wrestling-ground fighting knife/stick/Gun-weapons.
kicker Posted May 20, 2002 Posted May 20, 2002 Muay Thai- Elbows, knees, kicks and punchs either Boxing-for hands or kickboxing for hand and feet. Judo- for takedowns. weapons- to learn to fight with a few. when you do your best it`s going to show. "If you watch the pros, You will learn something new"
