MTV Real World Denver and the Martial Arts

Recommended Posts

My wife made me watch the 1st episode of MTV Real World in Denver (this year's location).

The 1st epsiode showed one of the cast(his name is Tyrie) being a Martial Artists who teaches TKD to inner city kids. So that made me interested in the show.

That same 1st episode teased everyone by showing Tyrie getting into a fight with one of his roomates. I told my wife that a true Martial Artist, would try and walk away and not pick a fight. And only fight as a last resort.

So, last night was the epsiode that was teased on the 1st epsiode.

Another cast member (I think his name is Davis) got in Tyrie's face, pushed him (even squeezed his face), and even used a racial slur.

Tyrie made all Martial Artists look good last night, he was very very very mad, but he kept his cool and did not fight.

This TV show is watched by tons of Teenagers. (I'm 32 and I watch it)

Anyone watching the show know that Tyrie was never in any danger. he could have killed Davis (without question, even without knowing TKD) , but he chose not to.

My wife turned to me and said "Its just like you said, he would not fight. he must be a true martial artist."

Sometimes its not about fighting, but just using your brain and talking. Tyrie and Davis had a talk the next day, with Davis really apologizing(blaming an alcohol problem and he needs treatment). Tyrie again amazed me by accepting his apologies, being his friend again. (This was big. I really like this guy! I'm a Tyrie Fan :karate: )

With all the negative news we see\read\hear, there are still good people in the world - Martial Artists!!!

I'm very happy to have watched a TV show where the Martial Artists made us all look good. :D

Fear does not exist in this Dojo, does it! No Sensai!!!
