I Want My Flexibility BACK

Recommended Posts

am 14 years old and in the past i had great flexibility and grace , i used to be able to open my legs to the end with allmost no pain , and now am not even close to that.

whats the best way to get my flexibility back?

also i have another question , due to this thing in my genes , i get pain certain points of my lower body (legs) , it started since a few months and its ben really holding me back , i took so many xrays because i thought there was something wrong , and i allways got the same answer , there is nothing wrong , your bones are just growing , so i ask how long is this supposed to take , and there like , not much , they will keep growing untill your 16

there is no way in hell that i would accept that , is there anyway to get rid of the pain?? its soooo annoying and i wish i could do something about it

my body is perfectly fine and its not about weakness or anything , its just in the genes

after walking / running for a while i start feeling pain in about every joint in my legs , its not exactly making me bad in karate , but i know i could do better if i didint have such pain.

thanks for listening

Take 10 to 30 minutes to stretch each day. The best time is after a good workout when your muscles are warm.

You're suffering from what's known as "growing pains." It happens. I hate to be the one to tell you that your body will feel more awkward and abnormal during the next 2 to 4 years. Your growth spurt won't stop until your around 21 or 22 years old. But you'll learn to adapt and the skills you'll be able to develop will blow your mind. Just stick with it and keep practicing.

As far as the running goes...unless your on a team or something...just slow down or don't go as far. You'll be fine.

ps1 summed it up. A good stretching routine will help you get your flexibility back, but it won't happen over night. Just keep working at it, and you will get there.

Sorry Umerte but ps1 is right, growing pains.... ever time I went to the doctor he would just say its growing pains. I'm sure if I had a broken leg it would have been growing pains...... (sorry off topic). The best thing to do is just stretch slowly and do things a bit more carefully.

Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.

When you are done growing, it should go away! :)

Seriously, you could try some steady levels of ibuprofen or apirin to ease the pain.

Not as far as im aware, its just parts of your body growing at different rates. My biggest problem was my knee's couldn't ever lean on them but now im fine, its just a case of time. If they hurt all the time and alot then I recommend the best cure......... a hot bath and a hot chocolate. (Note the hot chocolate does nothing for the pain but it tastes nice).

i just read about Growing Pains in a website and it says:

Usually they happen when kids are between the ages of 3 and 5 or 8 and 12

well am 14 , and i didint get them UNTILL i turned 14.

Growing pains don't hurt around the bones or joints (the flexible parts that connect bones and let them move) - only in the muscles

not my case at all! , it hurts in the joints of my leg , and when i took an xray , the doctor showed me the piece of bone that expands and makes my foot bigger

and i usually get pain in that part i've drown above , in the knuckles , that doesnt seem like muscle pain , are there any muscles in the knee?

so basicly its the complete opposite of that quote.
