Orion Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 I was checking through some other forums and came across a nice simple mega shake. Thanks to D1ez at abcbodybuilding for the recipe:1 Cup Oatmeal2 Tbs peanut butterwhey protein1 Banana20oz Water3 Ice CubesBlend the lot and drink, may seem like a simple idea but I never thought of it. I have strawberry flavoured protein but he used chocolate. You need to really blend the oatmeal well else you get a lot at the bottom (but even that tastes nice).Note: Make sure your blender can crush ice (else you'll break it). Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.
Sohan Posted November 13, 2006 Posted November 13, 2006 Sounds good. I do much the same kind of shake, but I usually leave out the peanut butter (calories and fat) and substitute Milled Flax Seed and add canned pineapple and juice. A cup of non-fat yogurt gives it extra protein, calcium and zing. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Orion Posted November 13, 2006 Author Posted November 13, 2006 Thanks sohan never thought of the non-fat yogurt. The peanut butter is good as im trying to gain some weight. Not keen on pineapple but whats milled flax seed, I have never heard of it? Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.
Sohan Posted November 14, 2006 Posted November 14, 2006 Flax seeds are great for digestion and they're loaded with Omega-3 fatty acids, which are recommended for your heart. An overall health booster. Milled flax seeds are simply ground up seeds, which digest much better than whole seeds that practically pass through your system undigested. Plus they taste pretty good in my shake, too.Since you're trying to gain weight, you can try my Reeses Peanut Butter Cup shake (you can adjust the fat content if you like--this is the megafat version):1/2 cup Peanut Butter1 Milk Chocolate Bar1 Cup Premium Vanilla Ice Cream1 cup Whole Milk1 cup Chocolate Whey Powder3-4 Ice CubesMix well. If this won't put weight on you, nothing will, though it's definitely not for the casual exerciser. You can subsitute chocolate syrup for the chocolate bar, but the taste is somewhat different. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Orion Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Wow, that sounds like a shake and a half. 1/2 a cup of peanut butter!!! Gonna have to give this one a try, I think this would be most peoples daily carlorie allowance. Getting a proper blender for christmas as my one at the moment doesn't do ice.I only have my mega shakes on my hard workout days, although I was thinking about having them everyday, just bulk a bit quicker. However, I think I should probably stay away from that one. I am going to have to exercise some self-control on this one. But it looks soooooo good! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Orion Posted November 14, 2006 Author Posted November 14, 2006 Well, I have to create clients somehow.... With respect,Sohan Ok this is going to sound a rather odd question but what oats do you use for the oatmeal? I have tried to look for just oats but most are porriage oats, whats the best to look for? I use "old-fashioned" oats by Quaker, and they mix well in my little blender. "Quick" oats also have blended well.Funny you mention this, as I am at present consuming that very shake (the oat one, not the peanut butter one). Orion Posted November 15, 2006 Author Posted November 15, 2006 I'll have to pick some oats up on my next trip to Tesco. Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.
