ninjanurse Posted October 25, 2006 Posted October 25, 2006 I work in an ER and people are always hacking on me, etc. Good handwashing is a must to keep from getting sick! When I teach class I always wash my hands after each one and do not hesitate to ask coughing students to cover up or sit out. Some people just don't understand common courtesies and/or are uneducated so I include the "germ talk" in my class wrap-ups throughout the cold/flu season. Some people just don't understand common courtesies and/or are uneducated so I include the "germ talk" in my class wrap-ups throughout the cold/flu season. I was at Cub Scout Camp with my son this weekend, and while standing in line for dinner I noticed a young teen who was handing out burger buns suddenly let out a monster sneeze. He then proceed to wipe his dripping nose with his hands, the same hands that were presently handing out food to those of us in line. I walked over and politely handed him some hand sanitizer and then proceeded to take over his duties. I just couldn't bear to see that kid touch one more food item with that cold. The parents who were in line noticed what I did, and they appeared silently grateful.I'm no germaphobe, but most colds can be prevented if people use a little common sense. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." JackCrevalle Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 I'm glad to see this topic. As someone who is on immuno suppressants for arthritis, I cringed when my instructor said that he thought he was getting the flu. Sure enough about a week later he was out. Luckily I got a flu shot even though I had to pay for it myself.
Jiffy Posted October 31, 2006 Posted October 31, 2006 Germaphobe!! Hahaha, that's gold. That, I certainly am not. Avoiding obvious large concentrations of germs is fair enough, but nothing bugs me more than someone who disinfects everything every five minutes. For those who agree, see if you can find a copy of George Carlin's thoughts on the subject of immune system. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

For those who agree, see if you can find a copy of George Carlin's thoughts on the subject of immune system.I have a seven year old boy and two adult cats. I gave up disinfecting every five minutes a long time ago. When you've dealt with the disgusting things that these three can create as long as I have, not much bothers you anymore. But I draw the line at people who can control passing on their infections and don't do so.With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." bushido_man96 Posted November 1, 2006 Posted November 1, 2006 Cats. We had 3 cats before my son came along. I will never have that many in one house again! Just too much work, between vacuuming up hair, and changing litter boxes. And the vet bills....holy cow! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
