Sohan Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 My legs felt like rocks this morning! Eventhough it was my first time running in the morning this early, it was harder than I thought. I think I ran 3k in about 20 minutes. I know, not a lot or very fast, but I have to start somewhere. The only thing I had before my run was a glass of milk and a vitamine pill.Tomorrow the same thing I guess, but I have to keep doing it if I want to improve myself. Thanks for the support you guy's!TomTom, I don't know about your tolerance, but I'd skip drinking milk before a run. It could give you the trots. If your vitamin has iron in it, it could also upset your stomach.Try juice instead. It's got more carbs, which will help with that "legs like a rock" feeling. Milk doesn't have that much in the way of carbs and it milk sugar is harder to digest. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Sohan Posted October 26, 2006 Posted October 26, 2006 I'll try the juice thing Sohan. Maybe that's why fruit was one of the things that was recommended to me. I like the idea of running up/down slopes to change up the intensity. So far I have been keeping to fairly level ground...Lazy running I guess Good luck Havoc.I'd suggest that if you want to run with an incline you do so on a treadmill. Running downhill is very hard on your legs (joints). I don't remember if I read that here or in an article in a different site, but I know that it puts more pressure on the joints so it's best to just go uphill (you can choose that on a treadmill)I completely agree. I do most of my running on the treadmill, and it is much more forgiving than asphalt. The only problem is that you tend to be a little more sore after a race because you're not used to the downhills or pounding. I would recommend if you are going to do a race, try some downhills at least a month out from your race about once a week to develop a tolerance. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." TomSure, orange juice is fine. I personally prefer apple because it is less acidic, as I have gastric reflux (GERD), which is exacerbated by running and acidic foods, most unfortunately. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth."
