Rainbow_Warrior Posted October 18, 2006 Posted October 18, 2006 Well.... I do lift weights since I am 16 , I am 21 and grew up a lot , in size and streght . I have not problems with power in any muscular groups , but my Forearms.I can lift about 140 pounds or more with a bar , sitted down with the bar on my knees using my forearm. That is not so bad for my 180 lbs weight I thinkBut my problem is , I DO NOT HAVE MUCH strenght to squeeze .... I mean like when you shake hands. In that case....I am not weak...but not much more strong that a average plus guy. I ´ve noticed that many big people with big hands , that never lifted a weight in their whole lives , have more strength than me at that poing. I can hold something I grab ( example an arm when training MA) and is hard for mos guys with I train to release. But I repeat..I dont have that strength to squeeze .I think could be something genetical....My wrist is thin ( comparing to my arm) , and my hands are not very big....I ´ve tried holding 20 kgs (45 lbs aprox) disks , longer as I can....I bought that Grip with ´´ A´´ shape.I tried hanging in the bar for long time....I did several different forearm exs. at gym...And just minimal improvement ´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´
Havoc88 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 How about grippers. Do not know wether you know them or not, but they prove te be very helpfull. It's just a mechanic which you have to squeeze like when you squeeze a hand when you shake hands. There tend to be some very good one's called Captain of Crush (CoC). They come with different resistances so you can work your way up with them. Type captain of crush at Google and you will find the site to buy them if you want to.Tom Train harder!Currently: 7th kyu, yellow belt
elbows_and_knees Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 you may just have genetically weak wrists. in any event, try squeezing a CoC - Commander of Crush grip trainer. You can buy them online.

bushido_man96 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 You could also get some tennis balls, and squeeze on them as well. Once you kill the ball, get another. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
lordtariel Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 This is going to be really hard to explain but another grip strengthening exercise is to touch each of your fingers to your thumb one at a time in sequence as if you were drumming a counter with your fingers. Go all the way through till you use your pinky, then work back, making sure your fingers go all the way back out.(In other words, keep your hand flat, not in a "C" shape while you're doing this) Once you get that down, try it with both hands at once, then alternate the order of the fingers you use. This drill is primarily used to improve concentration and finger dexterity, but also helps out grip strength. Hopefully this makes sense. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
bushido_man96 Posted October 19, 2006 Posted October 19, 2006 Something fun to do at the end of class, that is similar to lordtariel's idea, is to have the class line up, and then have everyone set in a horse stance, and then extend the arms straigth out in front of them. Lock the elbows, and extend the fingers. Now, starting with the lowest rank, they count to ten, and with each count, everyone brings the fingers in to a fist, and then flexes them back out, very quickly. After that person counts to 10, it goes to the next, and they count to 10, working your way all the way up to the highest rank, and then the instructor. The forearms will be stingy when finished, and the more people in class, the better it is! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Rainbow_Warrior Posted October 19, 2006 Author Posted October 19, 2006 I ´ll try those workoutsThe workout that lorariel mentions , is similar that one I use to do when started to play guitar... Is cool.I also bought a Gripmaster , that is a grip with keys (each one with a spring) to work each finger.I am a damn mutant I have more strengt in my left hand , even being right handed.A friend of mine told me about the tennis balls , but I thoght he was mockin on me...I would try it The grupal exercise seems good , but I need extra people ´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´
Havoc88 Posted October 20, 2006 Posted October 20, 2006 By my knowledge it is Captain of Crush, not Commander of crush. But maby you guy's are referring to an other gripper than I am. But if you aren't, than maby you wont find many hit by the name Commander of Crush.Tom Train harder!Currently: 7th kyu, yellow belt
