rabid hamster Posted May 7, 2002 Author Posted May 7, 2002 Thank you for all the information. Another question though, Do you ppl think this would be a good schedule to follow for about a month? after that I'll be changing it 1. warm up by jogging in place 2. push ups, crunches, squats, lunges(as many as possible) 3. Stretch 4. practice techniques. like kicking and punching. 5. do cardio exercises for about 15 minutes, then walk the dog too on the sunny days. as you can see i'm not one of those people willing to exercise for 3 hours everyday or anything, but any suggestions on what to add or get rid of would be great. Dbzhub Posted May 7, 2002 Posted May 7, 2002 I've just recently almost lost 5 pounds probably 4.5 or 4 in a week. I walked at least a mile a day on my treadmill.. usually i do 2 miles but i also go skateboarding.. shoot some hoops walk around town with my friends you know usual stuff. Also I've kept my calorie intake under 1500 this seems to help ALOT. hope that helped in any way Do or do not, there is no try
rabid hamster Posted May 7, 2002 Author Posted May 7, 2002 hey, thanks Dbzhub. It's great to hear you lost a few already. on the treadmill, about what speed did you go? like 3mph, etc? i don't like running on the treadmill, so I guess walking would be better. Dbzhub Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 yep 3 mph around there i heard walking is better than jogging for burning fat calories.. Do or do not, there is no try
Withers M.A.A. Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 Well one thing most people don't know about trying to lose weight. The key is to eat more meals during the day. However, eat SMALL meals 4-5 times during the day. This will speed up your metabolism. When you go for long periods without food your body goes into starvation mode and actually starts storing fat which is what you want to avoid. By eating more often but in smaller doses your metabolism will actually increase. Cardio is your best bet for burning calories... walking or light jog is good. Stay away from high saturated fat foods and fried food. Good luck and let us know how you make out. Pete p.s. If you follow this schedule and work out 2-3 times a week for an hour or so I would say in 3 weeks tops you'll lose 5lbs. or more. 2nd Degree black belt in Kenpo Karate and Tae Kwon Do. 1997 NASKA competitor-2nd place Nationally in Blackbelt American Forms. rabid hamster Posted May 8, 2002 Author Posted May 8, 2002 hey thanks. walking is better then jogging for losing weight? tha's weird. lol well, i'll just walk anyway, i hate running on treadmills. ya, I would eat about 5 small and healthy meals a day, but the problem is I have school so it's kinda hard. we're not allowed to eat snacks during class either, and there's only about 2 minutes in between classes. plus, for some reason i don't think i can digest my food very fast. i eat a really small amount and i'm full for a long time. is this normal? tessone Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 As long as you're not hungry and don't feel low on energy, I don't think you need to eat more. As for eating often, I thought I read somewhere that that's how sumo wrestlers gain weight. What Bon posted about kitosis and insulin seems to suggest that eating carbs often is the key to weight problems, not losing weight. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong here. Also, it's worth noting that five pounds really isn't much. You can easily fluctuate that much in water alone. Personally, I'd suggest eating healthier, cut out McDonald's, and do more walking. Jack Posted May 8, 2002 Posted May 8, 2002 Heh, eating many small meals is also used when gaining weight or bulking to help absorb nutrients throughout the day, and as someone else mentioned to stop the "starvation" mode. Its not only how often you eat, its also what you eat. Sumo wrestlers probably eat tons of protein alongside tons of fat stuff. JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
