Beer, alcohol and MA

Recommended Posts

I've never drank any type of alcohol because I've seen what it can do to an individual and that individuals family and friends when alcohol takes control, both from personal accounts and professional accounts.

Having said that, I don't criticize those that do drink because what they do is their own business, UNLESS their actions affect my family and me personally. My job as a husband and a father is to protect them in anyway that I feel is necessary, and in that, I don't apologize for that.

I'll attend social events with my family and/or alone, but I'll leave immediately, both my family and/or I, at the very first sign of a problem occurring from someone being drunk and harmful for cause. I've lost friends because I've left their home, without telling them we're/I'm leaving, once the drinking became out of control, per my perception, and before something unpleasant happens.

:)

I am a big fan of not drinking before or during training. It is a firm rule that once the alcohol comes out, the weapons get put away.

That being said, I will not claim to have never fought hung over...

Think first, act second, and stop getting the two confused.

For the most part I don't drink. I don't have time to even think about it. Since I work 3p-11p I don't drink before work and just want/need to sleep after work. I do like the occasional beer or 2 though. I have some beer in my fridge that has been there for over a year.

Have you heard of "Drunk Master"?

We are not talking about Jackie Chan but the boxer Emanuel Augustus.

He has a cult following, perhaps after watching Emanuel in the boxing ring /dance floor, you might be able to pick up a few useful dance/boxing moves.

(For me he is the greatest boxer/dancer)

watch sam rockwell boxing skills at 1:53 minutes:

he is my favorite dancer.

So with drunken boxer styles Western and Eastern, there is something to be said about the both of them, that they have in common, using unpredictable movements and broken rhythm.

Practicing staggering footwork is supposedly a good exercise in learning to stay balanced.

Balancing aloft posts and walking on the edge of planks isn't easy for most people this is why martial artists train on them.

Drunks loose their balance very easily, due to the effectiveness of alcohol poisoning.

It has often been said to attack the balance in a fight. As it is difficult to throw a punch while simultaneously falling down.

Balance as we should be well aware of is situated in the ear.

Conor McGregor (In the UFC) must be very aware of this, as his opponents are not (As they turn their head to avoid being hit in the chin) as they seem to believe he is trying to knock them out via the chin, not so; actually they by turning their head expose the ear perfectly!

Conor aims for the ear and hits it full force with a punch then to proceed to punch the chin, continued with hammer fists pounding while the opponent is on the ground.

In self defense situations or occasions a good solid slap to the ear will destroy an opponents balance also could be enough to knockout the person as the brain slams against the inside of the skull.

Yes attack the balance, but also include the ears in this equation.

I only drink occasionally. I dislike feeling crappy the next day, so when I do drink, I tend to not mix, and only have a few (and I like the good stuff! Single malt scotch, bourbon, quality gin, Belgian ales, absinthe, etc.)

I have felt so bad after drinking alcohol, it lasts for three days after that I have stopped drinking all together. My life is much better now, since I stopped.

Had a look at a "Beer Yoga" video on YouTube.

Was full of vulgar language and none tasteful humor so linking it here is out of the question.

There are also karate vs drunken style kung fu also on YouTube.

The drunken kung fu fighters didn't seem very convincingly drunk, they looked more like badly trained, unemployed kung fu actors, looking for some quick bruises for some beer money.
