ShotokanTre Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I don't really have an opinion as to whaty color it should be, but mine is white, so i think i'll stick with that. although i do like the white jacket with black pants look. I think black tops kind of are too much like pajamas, so I would reserve that for Ninjutsu One More Time
jaymac Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 The color should be whatever the instructor requires. Starting out, students in our dojo are required to wear white. At 5th kyu, they may wear black. I do prefer black to white. I don't know why. Makes me look thinner Just kidding. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
Abraham_lincoln Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 Back when I was a little kid (about 10 or 11) at the dojo, the dojo "popular kids" said that the coolest was to have a white gi top and black gi pants. Or maybe it was the other way around.
Smitty Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I've always just liked the plain white gi. But the black hakamas that some of the seniors wear do look pretty sweet.
Brandon Fisher Posted September 30, 2006 Posted September 30, 2006 I favor an all white gi. I do allow kyu ranks to wear black tops for kobudo practice only though. The dan ranks may wear all black if they choose for kobudo practice. Brandon FisherSeijitsu Shin Do
cathal Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I'm a fan of a no-frills gi. Colour doesn't seem to matter to me. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu
ps1 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 Whatever color you desire. Assuming your school doesn't have restrictions. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
deadmonkeysrule Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 well i like an all black gi but only when u get up in the darker belts. i love my karate
bushido_man96 Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 I like my dobok all white, or white top/black bottoms.I also believe that no matter what color is chosen, it should be the same for everyone in class. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Rateh Posted October 1, 2006 Posted October 1, 2006 For teaching or training, I don't care what color. For competition, black makes you look faster, and white is required for traditional forms. Your present circumstances don't determine where you can go; they merely determine where you start. - Nido Qubein
