Myth
Suppose you are being attacked with a katana sword. The attacker can be either highly experienced, or not at all.If you are unarmed yourself, and running away doesn't count, then how could you ever get out of this? Also, are those swords even legal?I, myself, would probably never come into any situation like this, don't even have a sword at home, and don't plan on doing weapons until I get it at my trainings. (I've done a Bo Hyung though... )Pretty much, I'm just being curious.Thanks,- Myth Green belt Tang Soo Do. And I love it!
PlasmaShock
i would give him whatever he wants and then get the heck out of there. if he didnt want anything i would create a distraction by gasping and looking to the side so he will look there. then i would attack him to the ground to neutralize him and then take the sword if i can or run away. Scotty
First thing I would want to do would be to try and arm myself... with anything. Even just the shirt on your back can be used to grasp the blade if it's thick enough. And assuming I can't run away (which I would) I would try my best to get the blade from him. The best armour is to keep out of range.
kenpo.stylist
get in VERY close. Katana is an extension weapon, and can't be fully utilized without either stabbing/thrusting or swinging. Once the attacker commits, you have your plan all laid out for you. Jam him up.
lordtariel
Look for some way to put a safe distance between you and the weapon. The great thing about defending against hand weapons(not range weapons) is that they are only effective up to a certain range. Short of throwing his weapon(really stupid), the guy with the sword probably isn't going to be able to hit you if you're more than 10 feet away. The more dangerous option is to get in really close and try and gain control of the weapon or the arm holding the weapon. Look for things you can use as a weapon... sand, gravel, branches, pvc piping, bottles, pushbrooms, ect. Just about anything can be useful if you're creative enough. bushido_man96
Stay out of range until he over commits. I would look for a shield of some kind to defend and attack with. When he over commits, I would attempt to control the weapon arm, and procede to smash the face or anything else to slow them down. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
masterintraining
i agree with how whatbasicly every1 else has listed. first i would of course try to run but u already said that it does not count so, i would try to give or do as he asked but if he was trying to just kill me, or if i had to protect someone, id choose to try and arm myself with what ever i could find, if not that i whould try to dstract him and attack.2.) i would try to go to the ground or sweep him or other leg attacks to first crumble his stance, or get him to ground then i would try and disarm sword since he is probably unfocused now, and then defeat him, 3.) if step three would not work then i would wait for him to try and attack, since u need good range to attack with a katana, when i decided to attack with lets say a overhead strike for example, id move in when he lifted the sword, over his head and jam him, then i would go from there.but still running would always be my first idea. you must learn different combinations of techniques down to your very soul and they must come without thinking when you finish with one technique, you must immediately go into another until you have attained your goal which is to destroy the enemy.
