Shotokan-kez Posted September 13, 2006 Posted September 13, 2006 Tonight myself and my sister had a private spiritual reading done. My sister wasn't very impressed with hers as he just said general things like, 'your going on holiday', 'your going to move house' ect ect. Mine was a little different and it worried me.The medium told me that my keys were going to get stolen and something was going to be stolen from my house. Obviously now i'm obsessed with locking everything and worrying that someone is going to come into my house and burgle me. I am a single parent and i am nervous enough about living alone. He also told me that my son is going to have a serious burn to his hand and a trip to hospital casualty will be necessary......so obviously i'm panicking about that now too. Do these kind of people really know what they are doing? Are they for real or do the play on people's emotions and lives just to get money. It cost us £20 tonight and neither of us were happy. Has anyone on the forums ever had any experience in this subject before.I was later told by someone tonight after the reading that proffesional mediums are not meant to tell the future and shouldn't tell you of bad things that are going to happen?? Any advice?Kez Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
alsey Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 in my opinion, the whole concept of spiritual mediums is absurd. if they tell you what's going to happen in your future and it does happen, they've either investigated it somehow and found out, or its coincidence.now, if this guy has got in touch with some burglars to rob your house then he's pretty stupid because you can report him to the police. if it was me, i would report him to the police right now just to be on the safe side.on the other hand if you honestly believe this guy can see the future, there's still not any point in worrying about it. if you prevent it from happening, then he was wrong. if he was right, then there's nothing you can do about it. "Gently return to the simple physical sensation of the breath. Then do it again, and again, and again. Somewhere in this process, you will come face-to-face with the sudden and shocking realization that you are completely crazy. Your mind is a shrieking, gibbering madhouse on wheels." - ven. henepola gunaratana
bushido_man96 Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I don't put much stock in this sort of thing. I don't even bother with them. And personally, anyone who is going to take your money to tell you that you are going to have problems.....well, there is just something not right there. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Shotokan-kez Posted September 14, 2006 Author Posted September 14, 2006 yeah my thoughts exactly. I'm not as bothered about it now as i was last night. You see so many people plouging so much money into this, for alsorts of reasons in the grave hope of some answers....Me personally, yes i have been to a few but i'm not mad about it and i am still very sceptical.I don't know if this show was aiired in the us but a programme called Afterlife is shown here and it is very good and can be quite scary...but obviously thats just tv...i don't expect its anything like the real thing. hawkfish Posted September 14, 2006 Posted September 14, 2006 I would think that the fortune tellers are only good if you believe in them, which I don't. I also think some of the things that they tell people come true more because of power of suggestion and not because they can see the future with their special powers.I always think of the Oracle in the Matrix move. She tells Neo don't worry about the vase and when he turns to ask her about it, he knocks it on the floor. The thing she said is "would you still have broken the vase if I didn't say anything." TigerDude Posted September 15, 2006 Posted September 15, 2006 "Medium" are really more like magicians - they do tricks. NO one has ever proven it to work. Houdini spent the last years of his life uncovering numerous frauds in the area. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. You must thoroughly research this. - Musashi
ShotokanTre Posted September 29, 2006 Posted September 29, 2006 I was told point blank..."you will fall in love before 28, you will have three children, two sons and a daughter"I turn 25 in two weeks and am lonely:(I hope I have the girl firstETA:I do believe that is possible for humans to invoke "divine" energy, and I think I understand why Emporers from the world over have claimed to be "living gods" i think i get what they meant by that. To be honest who here, at some point in their life haven't lost their house keys (hey I've lost mine 2 a couple of years ago). And as for something getting stolen, a friend coming over borrowing a pen but forgetting to tell you... Well you get the picture. The Oracle said it all in the movie Matrix -Ken Tang Soo Do: 3rd Dan '18Shotokan Karate: 2nd Dan '04
