pineapple
My training has been severely hampered by heel pain. Any advice? What works works
bushido_man96
Take a rest. Start with a week off, and see how it goes. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
hawkfish
Did you do anything to hurt it? It could be a heal spur but without seeing a good foot doctor, it it too hard to tell.Below is some info on heal spurs:http://www.foot.com/info/cond_heel_spurs.jsp DougShodan, Shotokan Karate & 1st Kyu, IaidoShotokanMaster.comShotokanPlanet.org
Jiffy
This is fairly common when training on hard wood floors. Give it a week to rest and go back to training. If it keeps happening, speak to your GP. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
TigerDude
Google plantar fasciitis. It is a very common ailment among the active. "Heel spurs" are more symptomatic than causal of most heel pain. If you think only of hitting, springing, striking or touching the enemy, you will not be able actually to cut him. You must thoroughly research this. - Musashi
RichardHangHong
Did you do anything specific that may have caused it or is it just from training on a hard floor?Rest if you can, but if you must train wear a foot/ankle support, neoprene ones are pretty good, I use them quite a lot when I need to. hawkfish
Where exactly does it hurt? Is it the heal itself or more in the arch? Did it just start to hurt or have you always had the pain? RichardHangHong
Sounds like possible bruising of the bone. If you train on a hard floor with no mats then this is quite common in the early times of your training. Especially with high impact work. Rest it when you can, go easy on it when you're training (i.e. no stamping your foot on the floor)Whenever we spent lots of time on certain katas we would get sore heels. We ended up calling it "Empi heel" Richard Hang HongChief InstructorSeitou Ryu KarateFind me on Facebook!Seitou Ryu Karate
