uniforms/gis with patches, logos and patterns

Featured Replies

I wouldn't say it annoys me, I too say each to their own, but I do think that more than three badges looks a little tacky.

It really depends on the style. For our school, each student wears our club badge plus the badge of the style they train in on a plain Gi.

In some BJJ schools though, they use large badges on the arm, leg and back.

The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.

I agree with everyone else. In my main dojo we wear white gis with only the school patch. I recently started training at a different dojo (same style) while I'm at college, and the first day the sensei came out with this big bright red, white and blue TKD gi. I'm not unpatriotic, but I think those kinds of flashy tournament gis are tacky and unnecessary, especially for regular classes at the dojo. I'm more traditional when it comes to my training, and just the fact that the sensei presented himself in that way makes me kind of worried about the kind of training i'm going to get. :(

a real martial artist gotta have at least 6 patches.

2 on the arms, 3 on the chest, one on the back side. :)

Each to their own however I find that too many patches spoil a gi. I think that a governing body and dojo/style is enough.

I perfer a plain white gi. No patches, or anything. But most of mine have a logo on the back and school patch. I also think that those multi colored gis with lots of patches have to go. They are tacky.
