uniforms/gis with patches, logos and patterns

it really annoys me when i see uniforms(especially flashy ones with stars, patterns or stripes) that have a whloe bunch of logos and patches. uniforms should have nothing on them. it is a symbol of respect when uniforms are plain and the color of the gi goes with the style. although its good to have at least one with the name of the foundation like jka or something like that. do you agree with me?

I prefer a solid white gi with the styles patch and sometimes the 2 patches of the the associations I support.

I like solid color gis, preferably white, with a school patch and association patch (if applicable). Names or association on the back is ok as well. Stripes on the collar and down the pant legs are common in my style, and are usually for 3rd dans and up.

I agree. My Tang Soo Do gi is on my wall, and only has 2 patches. One with the World Moo Duk Kwan (our association) logo with the words TANG SOO DO, and the other with our instructor's teacher's patch, out of respect.

i prefer to have a plain gi with nothing on it, but it doesn't bother me if other people wear patches. in some organisations you have to wear certain patches.

I have two gis. One of them is my tournament\demo gi which has our org patch on it (AAU requires a plain white gi with only the AAU patch on the breast to compete in tournaments) The other is my workout gi which has absolutly nothing on it. Don't really feel the need for all the fancy decorations.

I personally train with either a plain white gi with nothing on it or a single org patch front.

I see nothing wrong with a good tasteful embroidery on the back or good quality kanji.

As long as your uniform doesn't look like a NASCAR race there is nothing to worry about.

I say to each his own but I prefer plain solid colored gi (acceptable color with instructor) and one organization patch. Period.

I have two gi's, one white, one black and both of them simply have my style embroidered on the left side of the top (black one has my name in Japanese embroidered down at the bottom that you can hardly see). I'm just a simple guy.

However, I personally don't see any problem in people decking out their gi's with whatever they or their school likes to wear. Its just something to work out in, if you like to wear patches and whatnot, what's the difference.

Shotokan is very picky about the gis. especially my senseis . I also don't really like uniforms with really long pant sleeves and arm sleeves.
