dparker Posted September 8, 2006 Author Posted September 8, 2006 Second Hand Smoke is the most toxic because there is no filter at that end of the cigarette. For most of us, that poses minimal risk because of the distance, but in your case, you are working inside and in close proximity of possibly mutliple smokers, and for long periods of time.I wish I could give you better news, but the fact is, you are participating in the worst form of tobacco smoking there is. There are ways you can make yourself feel better, but the lung damage is not reversable. My only advise.... find a new job!!I know..I been in contact with Americans For Nonsmokers rights. We are working on getting a study together. And fight this.However..I had an interview for Surveillance Agent. Which is way off he gaming floor. I won't be in contact with anyone. But a few people. Matter of fact I never have to see the gaming floor again. Downside I will take a huge pay cut...but I will be in an office located underground. Only 10 people from the gaming floor will be allowed to talk to me. I'm allowed to bring my own lunch or utilize any our restaurants for free.Providing I'm giving this job.. Jiffy Posted September 8, 2006 Posted September 8, 2006 Sounds pretty good. Sorry about the pay cut. Hope you get the job though. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
jj19902003 Posted September 17, 2006 Posted September 17, 2006 I work at a casino as a card dealer. One issue has been coming up lately is ETS (Enviroment Tobacco Smoke). My karate training as helped me to become more aware of my health. I have to work behind a table for 8 hours or more. When get off work not only I stink but I fell so sick. To keep from boring you..is their any type of suppliments i can get that can hel my body fight off the effects of the poisons from ETS? Also what about breathing excercise to help my lungs rid the bad air? ps-I'm a non smoker myself.Thanksif you really want to get rid of the smoke in your lungs the only thing you can do is to find another job were no one smokes and dont be around any one who smokes i have the same sort of problem because my mom smokes but lucky for me she is quitting Empty your mind, be formless. dparker Posted September 17, 2006 Author Posted September 17, 2006 Thanks guys...it always good to know kindness still exist. I talked to the head of Surveillance the other day he said its a tough toss up between me and someone else.In the mean time my new manager aware of my concern is been very accommodating. Keepin me in the high dollar section where we don't have much smoke. (Which it don't matter..but it's not as bad.) Rainbow_Warrior Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 well , you may wait a couple of years....then get kinda real sick , and go to trial with them. You win a lot of money to never work again...and retire yourself and live in the woods . naah kidingI Agree with our mates...but...I think that suggesting to leave the work is not a good idea....is easy to say that..but people need to work 4 living.So....you may try not to eat that smoke...and some chi kung may help perhaps.... ´´ The evil may win a round , but not the fight ´´
lordtariel Posted October 3, 2006 Posted October 3, 2006 That's pretty tough. For those of us in oregon, we actually have a ban on smoking in public buildings. This might set off a bit of fireworks, but I believe it's a good idea and should be implemented more states. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
