Myth Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Sorry for the lack of a better title, but I'm refering to things like this:http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=3381293275323820576&q=martial+artThe combination of the jumps here really impresse me, and mainly, the infinite amount of summersaults and 'continues handstand motion'. Also I have never REALLY seen someone do this... it's not common, is it?I really wonder, how could I get started to learn something like that?Thank You ,- Myth (My apologies if this was in the wrong section due to not directly being related to martial arts) Green belt Tang Soo Do. And I love it!
Rick_72 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Really neat gymnastics.....super strong, athletic students.....great training facility.....not a stitch of applicable bunkai.I'm too old to do flips! lol.

Most of the stuff they were showing were gymnastics moves, and once you get those, the 540s and side semis that they were doing aren't that much different, just a different direction for the momentum.I'm 39 and I finally just got my 540 down. parkerlineage Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I WANT TO DO THIS!!But it's not Martial Arts. It's very good gymnastics, which I love, but not MA. American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
alsey Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 yeah, very cool but not really martial arts. "Gently return to the simple physical sensation of the breath. Then do it again, and again, and again. Somewhere in this process, you will come face-to-face with the sudden and shocking realization that you are completely crazy. Your mind is a shrieking, gibbering madhouse on wheels." - ven. henepola gunaratana
bushido_man96 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 If you can find someone who teaches Extreme Martial Arts, then you could start learning some of those moves. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
ps1 Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 yeah, very cool but not really martial arts.Agreed! Don't get me wrong. It's terrifically impressive and if the opportunity presented itself, I wouldn't hesitate to learn it. Just wouldn't call it martial arts. It's not used for fighting/self defense. "It is impossible to make anything foolproof because fools are so ingenius."
jaymac Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 Saw some capoiera in there too, but mostly gymnastics. You could learn this from someone who teaches XMA, but I think you have to have a strong MA background to begin with. It really does not show effective MA movements, but it looks like fun. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
Myth Posted August 15, 2006 Author Posted August 15, 2006 No, it's not martial arts. I wonder where to find such a gym teacher, I might ask my P.E. teacher when school starts again. (Yes I'm still at school , 15) Green belt Tang Soo Do. And I love it!
jaymac Posted August 15, 2006 Posted August 15, 2006 I would think Myth that any YMCA would have a gymnastics course. A great martial artist is one who is humble and respectful of others.
