Mischievousjoe Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 So this is something i've just been wondering lately. I've been going to a boxing gym while i've been home for the summer , and part of their circuit routine is 4 rounds on the speed bag. I was just wondering how valuable a training device all of you think this is, it obviously gives some training to coordination and such - but it's really my first exposure to using this device and it doesn't seem like a big bang for your buck time wise. But then what do I know... "I once thought that life was a mixed bag, now I know it's just a bag of all"
bushido_man96 Posted August 8, 2006 Posted August 8, 2006 I always enjoyed speed bag training. I felt that it helped improve timing and coordination. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Teach me!!!!!!!!!!! Sure!....You just take those kamas you got, hold one in each hand, and stretch your arms out to your sides as far as you can. Then, you start spinning around and around and around, as fast as you can, and you will begin to hover! Just playing.... https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

But then what do I know...I have been able to do different combinations on the bag, like a 1, 2, and then hook. You can do the 1,2,3, where you hit the bag, and count 3 bounces before you hit it again, or you can do a 1,2 then 1,2,3 combination. Just use your imagination, and you can come up with all kinds of things. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

Mischievousjoe Posted August 8, 2006 Author Posted August 8, 2006 hmm never tried throwing the hook into it, thats a good idea! The way I was showed to do it is probly the basic begginers way, kind of figure 8 with the side of the hand then the back of the fist. The way I was showed to do it is probly the basic begginers way, kind of figure 8 with the side of the hand then the back of the fist. That is the typical way of hitting the bad, I think. The common boxer display you may see. I did it that way some, but I also did straight jabs into the bag as well, because I felt it was more realistic. I also stood in a right or left leg stance and did jab, cross routines.Another option is to do the 1,2, and then a half-hook, half-uppercut, that you throw when the bag hits towards the front (the second count), and you pin the bag to the top. A friend of mine called this the "Mickey Walker hook." Another way to change it up. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
