AikiGuy Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Have to go with a spear. It has enough length to fight from a distance plus a point to end a fight quickly. Second choice would be a Katana. Paranoia is not a fault. It is clarity of the world around us.
ashworth Posted December 13, 2006 Posted December 13, 2006 Well If I had training I'd have to go with the bo, is something I want to learn looks so fun!! and seems to have a good range Ashley AldworthTrain together, Learn together, Succeed together...
a_ninja Posted December 19, 2006 Posted December 19, 2006 a samurai sword and a dagger. and bear claws in both hands and both feet the best fight is one that doesnt happen
armanox Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I would have a variety depending on what the opponents weak range is:For Short range weakness:SaiMid-range:Katana (for a Eastern base)or Longsword (Western based tournament)Long range:Bo (East)Spear (West)Knowing your opponents weakness enables you to exploit them. Therefore, the above combination adds intelect in as an additional weapon, constantly weilded in accordance with the rules "Karate is NOT about the colour of belt you wear it is about the person you become;...to be a good blackbelt is to be humble and respectful amongst other things." -Dobbersky
bushido_man96 Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 Long range:Bo (East)Spear (West)Both of these weapons existed in both cultures. Is it really necessary to differeniate them? https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
armanox Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I feel the need to differentiate - I'm not too fond of the yari. As far as staves go, I do like the quarterstaff, I just like the spear better. NightOwl Posted December 20, 2006 Posted December 20, 2006 I have almost zilch weapons training, but if I had to go at it I'd like a good ol' fashioned broadsword! GOGO western weapons! Don't hit at all if it is honorably possible to avoid hitting; but never hit soft.~Theodore Roosevelt

Jay Posted December 22, 2006 Posted December 22, 2006 Katana no question its the best weapon there is in my opinion although the chinese broad sword comes close and also the chinese spear. I love nunchuku but they lack control when you stike an opponent so im going to go for a Katana. The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.
