Shotokan-kez
Yes he was fantastic, he used to scare us kids! I remember being bullied at school by a lad that trained with us and Jack went and had words with him lol. I remember we had to sweep the dojo up first. My sensei's live near him now, sensei dave grice, and sensei mike moores. Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
The-G-Man
It wasn't just the kids who were scared of him. I found a magazine which profiled him. It's from 1969 but they want £150 for it! Can't think how they justify that. Maybe I'll strike lucky and find some kind soul who has it so I can take a trip down memory lane.http://data.pointclark.net/budopromotions/estore/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=23_29&products_id=
Shotokan-kez
Wow G-man i would love to buy that, but im in agreement with you, don't know how they can justify that! I'll have to go on the hunt lol Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
bushido_man96
The fact that it actually holds some intrinsic value to so many MAist is why they justify the price of that thing. I would be willing to bet that there are some old Black Belt Magazines in the archives that would go for similar prices. It would be cool to have, though! https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

The-G-Man
I asked the company if the price was a typo. They replied saying that it wasn't, and that they had sold an early Fghting Arts International magazine for over £1,000. I can only conclude that I'm in the wrong job!But then, if I had £150 to blow the 'profile' I seek may turn out to be only ten sentences.
Shotokan-kez
Do you know the publisher of the mag? Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
The-G-Man
Do you know the publisher of the mag?Sorry I dont. I'm wondering if it was later merged with another magazine called 'Oriental Arts' because I remember buying a magazine called 'Karate and Oriental Arts' in the 70s. That was published by Paul H Crompton who also published some of Sensei Kanazawa's early kata books (which I still have).
