kzshin
if I remeber correctly, and if you are talking about traditional Okinawan, originally, there were three traditonal styles. And if you talking about the tradtional Japanese karate styles that were reconginze by Dai Nipon Budokai (the highest martial art authority in Japan), Originally, there were 6.The three I know for sure are:ShotokanShito RyuShindo Jinen Ryuand the two I believed it's in are (correct me if I am wrong)Wado RyuGoju RyuI dunno the last one, please fill in, if anyone knows. Brandon Fisher
Shotokan was not really a style when it came from Okinawa. I believe Funakoshi Sensei was teaching Shorin Ryu or Shuri Te at the time. I just goggled the Dai Nippon Butokai and found their website but didn't see anything listed on official systems of karate-do. patusai
There are no "styles" of Karate. Karate is Karate. There are, however, many styles of Martial Arts, but technically, there are no styles of "Karate".I agree with you and Itsosu.
