bat in a birdless village
In the August 2006 issue of Black Belt, there is an article suggesting carrying a decoy wallet. He states it should hold about $35, a few fake credit cards, photos of kids you don't know, and some receipts and business cards. What does everyone here think of the idea?I like the idea. Yes it seems paranoid, but if someone has a gun pointed at me and is several feet away, there is no amount of training that is going to help me disarm him. Give him the fake wallet and pray for the best.bat Being a shodan is about learning what you DON'T know about what you know.

UseoForce
I read the article too. I can think of some situations where it would work, some where it wouldn't, but it definately gives you options. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
ShotokanKid
It's a great idea, but the only problem I think could occur is if someone sees you take out your real wallet (at a store or something) and they follow you. I would make sure my wallet and my decoy are pretty similar and kept in a place not too far apart. It's a good idea. "What we do in life, echoes in eternity.""We must all fear evil men. bushido_man96
Very interesting idea. Maybe get some fake money to put in it? Don't know if I would carry one. But I live in a low population area. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com

cross
Dont really like the idea, it means you would have to carry 2 wallets basically everytime you went out... Im not sure i have enough pockets for that. Also, i dont usually carry much money in my wallet, and a person would need alot more than just my card to gain access to my accounts.I think its more important to manage what you have and make sure you only carry what you need in your wallet, if you need to transport lots of money, find better means than a wallet. All this is coming from a person who lives in an area where the chance of being mugged are extremely low, if i was in a different situation im sure my views would be slighty different. Jacob
I think it is a good idea for those who are truly paranoid. A hero is no braver than an ordinary man, but he is braver five minutes longer. - Ralph Waldo Emerson
lordtariel
They do make belts and things that have interior pockets for money and passports. That would make having a dummy wallet make more sense. I don't see getting my wallet stolen as a big deal, I'm only liable for about $50 if someone gets a hold of my credit card or bank account before I report it stolen. But then again, I keep my credit card in a safe deposit box at the bank so I'm not tempted There's no place like 127.0.0.
