you know...this isn't that bad of an idea...

but when you go into a fight, there should be no strategy. No thought. No, "I'll do this, then this..."maybe this is a good idea to train though.

there should always be thought, but not anticipation. that thought is how you recognize openings. "hmm, he drops his hand when he punches," or "he puts a lot of weight on that front leg," detecting weaknesses is a thought process.
