Samuel
Well, I tried a forum such for increasing punching speed etc, didnt really find many results, which im quite suprised about...So, I was thinking about the Kenetic Energy equation which a few people might knowKenetic Energy = 1/2 Mass * Velocity^2If you put numbers into that you find that doubling mass only doubles your power, but Doubling your speed Quadruples your power. And I figure this is why im finding it hard to pull of alot of combonations with power and speed,Because simply im big and slow, Ive already heard about polymetric exercises helping to increase your kicking and punching explosive speed etc, but they seem impractical with the space I have and exercises like doing pressups with a clap inbetween are very hard to do (can only do about 5)So, Does anyone have any training tips on increasing my punching and kicking speed, as well as snap back speed where I seem to loose alot of my power.Thanks. bushido_man96
Loren Christensen has a book called Speed Training. Find it, read it. That said, there are several things you can do. You could do some work with weight training at lighter weights with more reps, and push the reps out fast, but don't pop any joints. For kicks, practice bursting exercises, in which you burst your leg up into a chamber position, like for a front kick or side kick. Burst up as fast as you can, as high as you can, and then put it back down quickly. As the ball of your foot hits the ground, burst back up immediately. It takes time to develop speed. And just because you are big, it does not mean that you cannot be fast. https://www.haysgym.comhttp://www.sunyis.com/https://www.aikidoofnorthwestkansas.com
Sohan
I want to second Bushido's comment by saying Mr. Christensen's book is fantastic, and so is his book "Fighting Power". As far as weighted punches go, I think they're a good idea, but should be performed very slowly rather than quickly. The problem with weighted punches is the assumption that arm and shoulder strength provide the punching power when it actually comes from hip rotation. And Bushido is again 100% correct by saying that being big does not mean slow. Your speed is dependent on your ratio of fast twitch Type II to slow twitch Type I muscle fibers, and to a lesser extent, your training and ability to stay relaxed. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth."
