I wonder if any of you students of Korean MA have looked into studying Korean at all (beyond what you learn in the do-jang)?

I did. I learned some Korean, but I got lazy and stopped. I never tried writing in hangul, though. I wanna start back up soon (hopefully).

I plan to add more if I find good resources. Pay special attention to the site run by the Korean government--it has LOTS of material and will get you very far if you already know hangul.

This came up on another board too (well, sorta kind of). I know very little when it comes to Korean, but I did up a webpage to give people a basic understanding of the written language of Korean. There are also a couple of links that I found very helpful.

I just bought Elementary Korean by Ross King, Lee Insun, and Jae-Hoon Lee. It seems to be a pretty good text, and even comes with a CD to give you an idea of what the language really sounds like.

 

Apparently you have to start learning Korean when you reach the level of Master in KSW. I figure, I'm getting a head start.

 

 

My book came in today--more word later about my progress in Korean.

 

 

I dont like korean language.. its not good. i dont like the way they talk like chinese.

I did learn a little bit. but not all, i only know hi!!

I'm trying to get around to learning Korean, I'm sure I will one day. The alphabet has a really interesting history and structure.
