jacambece Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 So I broke my car coming home from work yesterday, a fire truck / ambulance decided that there was no need to alert anyone that it was hauling down the street and nearly pushed me off the road and into the curb...I’m fine but my car was in the shop and I had to walk home from the repair place...that was not fun...they should really put the sirens on when they are flying down busy streets. I got my car back today and they said I was lucky I didn’t break anything on the car, I just bent some stuff and they fixed it along with some other stuff they fixed on the car, I assume it wasn’t much work since I got it back within 24 hours.Cambece J.A. Samuel Posted June 15, 2006 Posted June 15, 2006 They SHOULD have their sirens on in busy traffic, From what I know they only put the sirens on where theres plenty of traffic and they want people to shift, at places like junctions and stuff, else they just leave their lights on.Still, are you claiming on insurance or anything? Im sure there should be something in there for you. But i dont know... Did it actually hit you? or did it just force you to swerve off the road?
aefibird Posted June 17, 2006 Posted June 17, 2006 Sorry to hear that. Emergency teams should have sirens/lights when there's traffic around. Glad to hear you're OK, though. "Was it really worth it? Shotokan-kez Posted June 18, 2006 Posted June 18, 2006 Sorry to hear that hun, emergency services should always use the sirens. As mentioned before they only have the flashing lights on when there isnt a lot of traffic but what a child decides to walk in the road, at least with the siren it may make the child stop for a second first and look. Glad to hear your ok and the car is repaired.Kez xx Walk away and your always a winner. https://www.shikata-shotokan.co.uk
KarateK Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 At least it happenned in the US so you cant accuse the crazy driver of being me!! Karate Ni Sentinashi
lordtariel Posted June 19, 2006 Posted June 19, 2006 Sometimes, they'll leave their sirens off because it causes people to either freeze up, freak out, or otherwise get in the way of where they're going. If they're moving really fast through heavy traffic though(which they shouldn't be doing anyway) they should have their siren on. I'd say you should contact the emergency department that hit you if nothing else than to report a dangerous driver. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
