topdawg Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 I agree that you did the right thing. I would have to think there was something wrong with you if you were not a litte apprehenisive in the situation. Nature gave us gut feeling about things for a reason. A computer beat me in a game of chess once but it was no match for me in a kickboxing match
aefibird Posted June 9, 2006 Posted June 9, 2006 Well done for doing the right thing. Yes, it's disheartening to think that out of all the people who saw him only yourself and one other person cared enough to phone the police. However, it is small acts like that one that make a difference. You were apprehensive, but overcame that to try to do some good. Hopefully, more people on here would overcome fear and apprehension to do good if the situation called for it. "Was it really worth it? Only time and death may ever tell..." jaymac Posted June 10, 2006 Posted June 10, 2006 You are a very special person. Everyday on CNN and our local news you hear about people abusing the kindness of strangers who are willing to help. Many people have been robbed, injured, or even killed just because they wanted to help a stranger. You were right to be apprehensive. It is not being discriminating, it is being logical. Had it been me laying face down, I too would hope that someone would come to my aid, but would know that many would pass to be safe. patusai Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 You tried helping and unfortunately that is much more then most people do. I believe that Cathal is right. People thought he was a bum and wanted nothing to do with him. I commend you for your efforts. "Don't tell me the sky's the limit because I have seen footprints on the moon!" -- Paul Brandt
