parkerlineage Posted June 16, 2006 Author Posted June 16, 2006 Japanese = Gi = KimonoChinese = Xunlian FuMakes sense to me...well, figuratively. I don't speak either language...but...you get the picture. Thanks! American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
Patrick Posted June 20, 2006 Posted June 20, 2006 Hello,We removed a post from this thread in error and I apologize for the confusion. It is below. Thanks.I have no idea what Xunlian Fu is supposed to be and this is coming from someone who does speak chinese. And since when was a gi the same as a kimono? kzshin Posted June 23, 2006 Posted June 23, 2006 gi is gi, Kimono is kimono, if you go japan want to buy gi and say kimono, people will definately laugh at you.and wats Xunlian Fu????there is not really a uniform for kung, every style or everyone wear wat every they like.
SatyagrahaKF Posted June 24, 2006 Posted June 24, 2006 This is correct. You can wear shorts and a t shirt, anything. Seek not and you will find. -Lao Tsu
Chaz Posted June 25, 2006 Posted June 25, 2006 Ya... I wear Work-out pants and a T-Shirt. Dress isn't important to me, unless it's a demo or something of the sort. "One of the lessons of history is that nothing is often a good thing to do and always a clever thing to say." - Will Durant
parkerlineage Posted June 26, 2006 Author Posted June 26, 2006 Thanks all for your posts...and I guess we've pretty much come to a concensus that Xunlian Fu is...incorrect. American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
pocketcoffee Posted June 27, 2006 Posted June 27, 2006 I never said that it was incorrect, merely that I did not understand what he was trying to say. what do i know, i'm an idiot.
yireses Posted July 29, 2006 Posted July 29, 2006 Hi!!I apologize for the misunder standing, I wrote Xulian Fu that means tranning, that was a bad copy and paste sorry. what I wanted to say was Tongsan = Uniform. Justin Treadaway Posted May 24, 2007 Posted May 24, 2007 AHH makes sense. Yeah in our school pretty much everyone has a uniform but most peps just wear the uniform pants because it doesnt hamper your movement at all and just a teeshirt. Unless we are testing and then we wear full uniform.
wildfire Posted August 22, 2007 Posted August 22, 2007 BUT!!! It looks cool.... And thats the important thing right? That everyone thinks we look cool?(kidding) I wouldn't like training in shorts or a t-shirt though...I don't know why, I guess it's a karate background hampering me, I always liked the way the uniform snaps when you do a technique. Plus I hate seeing what my legs look like when I kick.
