parkerlineage Posted June 3, 2006 Posted June 3, 2006 I know my karate uniform is called a gi. Is there a specific name for the kung fu uniform (jacket, pants, sash)? American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
Samuel Posted June 4, 2006 Posted June 4, 2006 Im intrested in this thread now, I went on a google search for a name for the "Kung Fu Uniform"Theres nothing about it at all, its just reffered to as the "Kung Fu Uniform" in all contexts I read.I have my suspicion that it hasnt been given a name like the "Karate Uniform" is called a Gi/Kaikogi
WudangDragon Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 Im actually ashamed to say I can't bring a name for a Kung Fu Uniform to mind. . . . . I dont think it has a chinese name. . . . "We follow the World,The World follows Heaven,Heaven follows Tao,Tao follows the way things are."
pocketcoffee Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 There is no such thing as a kung fu uniform. The thing you are sometimes asked to wear in a chinese martial arts class is a modern reproduction of old chinese clothing and as such, there is no name for that. It was just normal everyday clothing. what do i know, i'm an idiot.
Kajukenbopr Posted June 7, 2006 Posted June 7, 2006 i did not know that... <> Be humble, train hard, fight dirty
lordtariel Posted June 8, 2006 Posted June 8, 2006 Interesting, but makes sense. There's no place like 127.0.0.1
parkerlineage Posted June 10, 2006 Author Posted June 10, 2006 Yes, it does. Thank you all very much. Very interesting... American Kenpo Karate- First Degree Black Belt"He who hesitates, meditates in a horizontal position."Ed Parker
P.A.L Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 I also asked my girl friend she said no, they practice with their normal clothesing.
pocketcoffee Posted June 11, 2006 Posted June 11, 2006 Which is exactly why I'm always a little bit suspicious of Kung Fu schools insisting that you buy the baggy black trousers and insisting you wear a white t-shirt. In Hong Kong, I trained in shorts and what-ever t-shirt I was wearing that day. what do i know, i'm an idiot.
