ad Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 i think it would be correct to say a person is a grand master when they are lets say 10th dan, or the highest dan or stage in a particular art, you could say that Bruce Lee was the master of JKD, since he invented it and new everthing about it, which then comes on to next point, i would imagine that a grand master would be the creator of an art, such as judo or shotokan karate Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
Taokara Posted April 23, 2002 Author Posted April 23, 2002 Interesting thoughts all I am training for myself not anyone else.. to be the best I can be in everything.
EnvE Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 There is no real 'master'...there's your true answer. Fighting over the internet is like special olympics...even if you win, you're still a *.
G95champ Posted April 23, 2002 Posted April 23, 2002 My Sensei Howie Harvey said their is only one master and he wears a white gi in heaven. I do think he was perfect. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
Bon Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 I think a 'Grand master' would have the title bestowed upon him by others and be extremely humble. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
SaiFightsMS Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 I tend to agree with those of you who think a grand master would never bestow the title upon themselves. One would have to be humble and preferably have the title bestowed upon them by their most senior students. Maybe even be the founder of the system or the oldest and highest ranking participant.
TigerKorea Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 I would think that the question how or who is a 'Grand Master' is very interesting... well, easily you can say one who mastered everything like everything stuff you learned and you don't have anything to learn anymore because you are already a perfect man but!!! for example like USA it is the most popular country in the world and they are center for every things in the world, however with the attitude of arrogance they got bombed and all that. A Grand Master is one who can circulate every student's mind and body and who can inspire students with humbleness and with great attitude with respect towards athers and basically good in his or her own martial arts... However a good player cannot be a good teacher vise-versa a good teacher wasn't a good player ^^ someone who can break that law of nature !!! i am a korean boy who will rock korea with my fists may be next 10 years i am already a bruce lee of korea
Ai Hate Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 However a good player cannot be a good teacher vise-versa a good teacher wasn't a good player ^^ someone who can break that law of nature !!! i am confused.. what does that mean?
TigerKorea Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 First i am sorry my english succkss like my TKD skill Um... it's like such a law of nature that, many people say that one who is very popular and famous is not good in teaching others, however one who can train a popular and famous person is one who was not popular and famous player or artist Like for example Mike tyson is a champion however there's a question that could he train and make one popular and famous no~ never~ however tyson or Bruce Lee was taught( of course they taught only those basics and some of the techniques others are all created by artists on the ring or when fighting ) by those who were not really known very well... you know why? it's because when a good player becomes a trainer he will isist he's way very much and he will try to nearly mind control he's pupil to make him his own but real popular and famous good artist create and have he's own ways so they don't want others intercept their ways~ it's like Pele can't be a good trainer of Brazil national team however he is really good in Soccer it's like legend of soccer history~ I don't know what i have wrote it drives me crazy my brain is dizzy like this @.@ hu~ i am a korean boy who will rock korea with my fists may be next 10 years i am already a bruce lee of korea
ZeRo Posted April 24, 2002 Posted April 24, 2002 i think it should b the inventer of the system. like judo or small circle jujistu. i think that would be the most logical way.
