ShotokanKid
This is one of the most powerful kicks if executed properly. The best way to do this is to just start really slow. Do it properly and slowly and gradually build speed. Make sure to do it perfectly when doing it slow so that you have a good base to add on to. cathal
I have seen this performed in kumite...it is very strong and if you do it fast enough, very effective. .The best victory is when the opponent surrendersof its own accord before there are any actualhostilities...It is best to win without fighting.- Sun-tzu

Yasutsune Makoto
When turning make sure that your head doesn't lag. Having your eyes on the target throughout the technique should really help your balance. Gi, Yu, Rei, Jin, Makoto, Melyo, Chugo
KarateK
Sometimes though having your head turned can turn your hips, forcing your leg into the side kick. Its one of those kicks you either get straight off or struggle with. Karate Ni Sentinashi

You need to have your bearings to execute this kick properly, and that depends on your eyes being on the target.
