Could be muscular or it could be your spine. If it's still bothering you the week after, you might want to consider getting an X-ray and letting a doctor examine you. If you can massage the muscle and feel where it hurts, it's likely just muscular and may go away with rest. If it's pain in your lumbar vertebrae, you might have ruptured a disk.

Good luck!

But don't wait too long for the pain to go away! If it's a spinal thing, it'll only get worse until you get treatment for it. Trust me, I found out the hard way. :(

As for the pain, I would suggest gentle exercises for the spine and stomach such as lying on a hard surface and holding your stomach in ten seconds at a time. or the cobra position http://yoga.about.com/od/yogaposes/a/cobra.htm

Hope you feel better soon!

I was actually referring to the fact that it's a week later and he's still having pain. I don't believe he should wait to go to a doctor in this case.
