Sohan Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 Hyperextensions are also good. I wouldn't call good mornings terrible. They work your lower back well. Sure you can hurt yourself if you do them worng. But last I checked, thats the case with any type of weightlifting exercise.I'd agree with the last part. But the good morning is such a difficult exercise for most people to perform correctly, and even correctly performed the shearing forces to the vertebrae are extremely high (high risk for rupture), that I could never in good conscience recommend it as a training exercise. Deadlifts can be performed more safely and are, IMO, much more effective. With respect,Sohan "If I cannot become one of extraordinary accomplishment, I will not walk the earth." Orion Posted May 5, 2006 Author Posted May 5, 2006 i've found a few good body building sites that have videos and descriptions of how to do it. All you need to do is type into google the part of the body or go http://www.bodybuilding.com/fun/exercises.htm and click on the muscle i want to work on. This site has everything, from workouts for teenages to over 40's. Some of the stuff is for workouts at the gym but can be applied to home as well. Please make sure that you warm up properly first though. Knowing is not enough, we must apply. Willing is not enough, we must do.

Heather Smyth Posted May 5, 2006 Posted May 5, 2006 All of the advice given has been great, but it is my opinion that one of the most imporntant things has yet to have been mentioned. You must stretch your back just like any other muscle. Most of the time when I experience pain in my back while working out I take a minute to do some basic stretches for my back and it seems to help. Also stretching is a great preventative measure against injury.Heather You are only as good as you believe you can be!
