Iron Forearm

Haha...

Yeah, really lends itself to beg the question as to whether or not you could spend your time in a more constructive way.

Now, don't get me wrong, having a forearm that can bust up the terminator would be mega-useful, but I think that my katas need some work and I could stand some improvements on my stances.

Now if we were talking about an iron groin, then I would understand. Everyone could use an iron groin.

I do spend my time practising katas and basics too, but during the sparring I do get bruises, but also try to give them too!! Well I would find a perfect executed block that could break hard metal pretty useful against an opponent who launches a straight punch!! :P

You don't need an iron forearm. All you need is 16 lbs of direct pressure to break the ulna. About 8 lbs of direct pressure to break a rib or collarbone. It really doesn't take that much "toughness" if you have good technique.

Aaagh. :bawling:

Don't say that. I just received my first AARP solicitations. And I'm not close to 50 yet....

Sorry. You might be one of the lucky ones :)

I want to practise this- have been striking a mung bean bag- and hitting trees for a bit. What is the highest stage you can reach- I know shattering rock is possible- but I've read that traditional Iron Palm conditiones the forearm to be hard as a metal bar- and combined with internal qi gong- it is possible to shatter hard(cast)metal? :brow:

You asked the same question in the internal forum. I posted my answer there.

 cast iron stomach - very good Sohan!
