ad Posted April 18, 2002 Posted April 18, 2002 i am considering to get a speed ball as its my birthday today and i was wondering whether its actaully worth it, i bought a punch bag last year for my b/d and its really worth it, since i use it like everyday, and i will use the speed ball everyday but how does it benefit me in the long term or the short term, what does it improve?? its hard to see whether repetive punching seems to do anything need your feedback, thnx peace -ad Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
YODA Posted April 18, 2002 Posted April 18, 2002 The speed ball is great - but NOISY! Check you have a suitable place to make a din before you buy one. I have some great stuff on tape that I could send you if you DO get one. Jack Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 Happy birthday Ad! I'm not quite familiar with what a speed ball is. If it is one of those large balls you hold and throw into the air, then catch again, then I believe it works explosive strength, a pylometric exercise of sorts. Correct? ad Posted April 19, 2002 Author Posted April 19, 2002 thnx jack, but um the speedball isnt what you depicted , its a tiny ball placed against a wall, and you just keep on smacking it with a hammerfist , - i think , watch rocky im sure you will see he uses it yoda you mention that its very beneficial, but how is it ??, what does it improve, that what i want to know!!! thnx for the input, keep them comming Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk
YODA Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 A speed ball is skipping for your hands It's all about hand speed & hand-eye coordination -- and it ain't just about using a hammer fist. theya re LOTS of ways to work the speedball. In fact - one of Bruce Lee's original students once told me that Bruce used to work it with his feet - damn! Bretty101 Posted April 19, 2002 Posted April 19, 2002 Speed balls i just can't use 'em. I like hit it once and then have to wait for it to stop before i can hit it again. And those floor-too-sealing balls are even worse they hit back!!! Medicine balls are more my speed! Bretty
