Erm..yeah, the options I stated very extremes and I really won't go for them, unless I get into some sport in which case I probably would have helluva lot of excercise.

As for UK, I don't know, I haven't really seen all too many fat people around here. Most are either slim or a bit chubby. Although I am in UK for less then a year, I am originally from Latvia.

As for chockolate bars and other sweets, I prefer to snack right after a meal, which makes me take in too many calories in a single meal. Like eating a pack of chockolate cookies (2.5k calories) right after a large meal. One train to large-belly town.

Anyways, I have a question: At what rate do people get fat assuming they eat large amounts of calories, fat stuff (fries, chicken fingers etc.) and pretty much don't excercise at all? It just seems that gaining 10-15kg extra over about 4 years of sitting on my behind in front of a pc and eating all that crap should have had me fat sooner. Or is it just my subconcious making me think that I have a fast metabolism so I would feel happy that I will be able to eat more sweets when I drop weight?

Also, aproximately how much calories is a large sized blueberry/double chock muffin?

Alright Furious5k

I'm trying to gain muscle so not really lose weight just cut the fat out. There are LOADS of websites offering advice, my best advice is to write down everything you eat and the calories next to it. This does take time but you soon realise how much ovevr your allowed calories you are.

I always take the maximum value for the food calories and the minimum amount for the allowed calories.

Here is a link to my calories (sin list) http://www.vacanomusic.com/Test/Calories.xls . I have been trying this and doing exercise for about 2 months and had my mum(who is really critical about my weight) say that im looking better.

The main thing is to not eat alot, and try and eat 5 smaller meals a day and MAKE SURE you eat breakfast.

I'll echo the fitday comment. Great website.

Also, Orion, don't completely cut out fats. There are vitamins (oddly enough, called fat soluble), that rely on fats to be able to transport into the body. You cut out all fats, and you run the risk of developing vitamin deficiencies.

Even when I recommend a diet plan to someone, I never have them go below about 15% of calories from fats. Just make sure they are good fats. Stay away from anything that has "Partially hydrogenated" as part of the description. They'll turn into trans fats in the body which are proving to be really bad.

Isn't that the truth. People on very low fat or fat-free diets are ALWAYS hungry, and they end up eating more calories anyway.
