so watn remidies do u guys got i will take anything.

PEACE ( cough) ( cough)

Zinc drops. Every time I start to get sick I suck on a few a day. Works wonders.

Also the alka-seltzer type bubbly cold relief stuff works well to alleviate symptoms.

Avoid all types of sugar as well, it'll shut down your immune system. Good luck on your test.

I was just very sick and was told to try this oscillo...stuff. I got it at a pharmacy and I couldn't pronounce it but they knew right away what it was. It did make me feel better. Good luck on your test. What rank are you testing for?

Antioxidants. LOTS. LOTS of antioxidants. Green tea is one of the best sources of antioxidants, blueberries, watermelon (I think), etcetera. If you are extremely desperate, then fresh garlic (it must be fresh, as the chemical that you want to get from the garlic dissipates within ten or so minutes of cutting/mashing the clove) taken with a glass of milk is very effective. Generally, two to three cloves per day is all you will want to comsume. Once, I tried four cloves in one day. Very bad memories. Again, only do the garlic thing if you are very desperate, because EVERYONE within a ten foot radius WILL despise your very soul. But, if it is important, then garlic is an extroadinarily effective immune system booster. If you comsume copius amounts of tea and garlic, you will be amazed at how fast you can recover.

Good luck,

David

I was also thinking of green tea and zinc + i have found that light exercise seems to help. Water is also good as it helps flush the virus out.

The key to everything is continuity achieved by discipline.

Yeah, now that you mention that, I remember reading about a study on that. Something to the effect that sweat glands, when activated, release chemicals akin to antibiotics into the blood stream.

Antibiotics do nothing for a cold which is a virus! I'd say vitamin C and cover yourself and get enough sleep. And don't go about in a T-shirt in -10 either once you're healed.

Why not? If it's comfortable for you, do it. It has nothing to do with whether or not you catch a cold. You catch a cold from exposure to the virus, nothing more. Doesn't matter if you are dressed like an Eskimo, or running around in a speedo.

As far as the sugar, not exactly, and it's more related to stress than anything. When you are stressed, the body releases sugars into the bloodstream, originally intended to help with the fight/flight energy needs of the muscles. Sedentary stress still releases the sugars, but now they have nowhere to go. OVER TIME, (Not in the short time a cold might take), this excess sugar can lead to metabolic problems. Avoiding excess sugar is probably a good rule of thumb overall, but will have nothing to do with how fast you fight off a cold.
