Why?? Is this for competion or something?

Generally losing 1-2 pounds a week is considered safe. You can probably drop 5 pounds with water weight but it won't be something that will stay off. Also rapid weight loss usually results in a bounce back and more weight gained that you lost.

My normal recommendation is to eat right with a healthy balance of protien, carbs, and (healthy) fats. Reduce your calories and make sure that you work to slowly lose the weight. Also add weight training and cardio to burn more calories.

In your case without knowing your specifics it's hard to say exactly what to do.

I once lost 5 pounds over night after eating a bad burger from McD's. Thought I was gonna die. After that, there was no way I would have been in shape for any kind of competition, much less a walk around the block.

Good luck on the comp.

i do alot of fitness training and i gotta tell ya that losing 5 pounds that fast is unhealthy. why do you need to lose weight for a tournament? are you not confident in your abilities in your current weight class? are you trying to get into better shape? if thats it getting into shape for a fight doesnt mean to lose weight.

Precise numbers aren't necessarry. A rule of thumb is if you've got a six pack, then you're around 8-10% body fat or less. This is just a ball park estimate. By trying to lose more weight at this point, you may end up losing muscle mass instead. On the other hand, if you're lugging around a spare tire around your middle. . .
