There are lots of threads on push ups, but I couldn't find one dedicated to push up programs. I did some looking around on the Internet, and just could not find a program geared to a chubby female. One program even stated: This assumes that you are able to 30 push ups at the start.

I am interested in collecting some ideas for push up programs. If you have or had one, please post the program and the REASONS you use that particular program.

Here is the program I'm currently on, since I couldn't find anything else:

Sensei John's Push Ups and Character Builder:

Week 1:

6 sets of 6 push ups 3x/day

Week 2:

6 sets fo 8 pushups 3x/day

Week 3:

6 sets of 10 push ups 3x/day

Week 4:

6 sets fo 12 pushups 3x/day

Week 5:

10 sets of 6 push ups 3x/day

Week 2:

10 sets fo 8 pushups 3x/day

Week 3:

10 sets of 10 push ups 3x/day

Week 4:

10 sets fo 12 pushups 3x/day

(There's more, but that's the first 8 weeks)

Sensei John said that even though you don't gain more physically from this sort of training (as opposed to a three-times-per-week program), you build character by making a commitment to doing the program daily. I'm certainly feeling the stress of the committment, but I don't think I've built character from it yet (read: I'm doing it, but I'm whining about it). I guess that comes later.

White belt mind. Black belt heart.

Rejoice and be glad!
