Cheradenine Posted January 31, 2006 Posted January 31, 2006 As of Yesterday I have started uphill sprinting to supplement my training, aiming to gain cardio, speed and strength. Near my house in a park is a modest grassy hill which I go all out spritning upwards, walk back down and repeat. I've heard this to be very beneficial to a martial artist. I'm just seeing who else practices this method and what results have come of this.

MizuRyu Posted February 1, 2006 Posted February 1, 2006 I've considered doing this a lot. I also have a nice hill on which to train virtually in my back yard, of course, I'm bulking right now, so I'm going to wait till my cut cycle to begin it. TheAnimal Posted February 2, 2006 Posted February 2, 2006 Man, I wish I did... but I don't wanna....Actually, I don't run outside at all when it's cold, because, without fail, soon as I do I'll get sick. Every time. Drives me insane.
white lily Posted February 19, 2006 Posted February 19, 2006 yeah I did it 2 times/week while preparing for competitions.Great method of interval training. depending on your art you will want to look at different interval lengths...but generally keep them shortish to stay anaerobic.the book 'essentials for strength and conditioning" form the NSCA has good info on general interval training and I found a free e-book at https://www.martial-athlete.com that has martial specific info on interval trainingcheers

The one downside is that I hate having to go back down the hill which I tend to trip and and get somewhat cool looking bruises and cuts. "Time is what we want most, but what we use worst"William Penn
Jiffy Posted February 21, 2006 Posted February 21, 2006 While i don't currently do this, it's a great method of excersizing. The mind is like a parachute, it only works when it's open.
