SiluntSoul
Hello! Now that I have moved to Hawaii, this dojo that I train in now, known as Japan International Karate Center, they emphasize alot of stretching. So now whenever I am bored, I am always stretching, and I realize now, how much that really does improve your techniques and stances!I am mostly working on legs alot, so my stances can be deeper, wider and have greater kicks. Does your Dojo emphasize alot of stretching, and if you do it in your free time, what kind of stretching do you do? Im just curious, because I am sure there are plenty of other stretches out there besides the ones I have been using for 7 years.

karatekid1975
My dojang does too (dojo). I am flexible, to a point (can kick anyone 6' and smaller in the head), but big deal. Once you get to that point, it's not fun anymore. Do what works, dude. I don't mean to be a party pooper, but do what works. Laurie F
yamesu
IMO, all types of stretching are good for further developing technique, balance, and for aesthetics etc,I have found that isometric stretching however (legs/hips/lowerback/abs) has increased the look of my technique considerably.
