UseoForce Posted February 8, 2006 Author Posted February 8, 2006 Well, I'm not going to do this particular tournament (My no-gi game needs more work, IMO) but I still appreciate the tips. I am down to 156 and I'm as strong as ever. I'd aprreciate any further advice.BTW, I don't think I'll use creatine at this point. Certainly not without talking to my doctor. Good 'ol whey for me. Works miracles, as far as I'm concerned. If it works, use it!If not, throw it out!
TaeKwonDo Afficianado Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 Just to clarify what I meant about the creatine:It is made in the kidneys, and theoretically your kidneys might stop production or slow it down a lot if you are taking too much creatine from external sources. How possible is this? I really have no info on that, it's just a theory I've heard on the internet and from a few guys who work out a lot, but I'm personally a scaredy-cat about some stuff like that. For instance some people have no qualms about taking steroids when it is known that it can reduce the amount of testosterine you produce naturally, and I would never do that. I know it is a leap to compare the two but just don't like to take chances with my body.all the best,Tom
AndrewGreen Posted February 8, 2006 Posted February 8, 2006 You don't have to cut back on carbs, carbs are important. No carbs = no energy. It's where you get them from that matters. Fruits / Vegies = good source of carbs. Pasta / breads / cereals = bad source of carbs.Creatine can be dangerous, if you don't know what you are doing. I had a student (academic not martial arts) that went on Creatine too loose weight knowing nothing about it. Needless to say she didn't feel to good soon after starting. If you do go on it do your reading and drink LOTS of water. It makes your muscles absorb more water, meaning if you don't drink lots you get dehydrated. Andrew Greenhttp://innovativema.ca - All the top martial arts news!

SoonerJohn Posted February 9, 2006 Posted February 9, 2006 I was hesitant about kettlebells, but then I met some professional arm wrestlers (yes, apparently their are professionals) and they invited me to do some kettlebell workouts with them.I'll say I was impressed with them. I was sore and now I lift with them once a week.
