Since turning 18 my instructor has given me the responsibility of organising events/outside of class activities for the students (children, adolescents and adults) at the class, and to head the charity fundraising of the class. Any ideas for either? Or a way to combine the two? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You could do a "Kicks for Kids" Fundraiser where people get pledges for the number of continuous kicks they can do.

Then you could have a paty after the event with pizza movies and games.

Be careful, its illegal to raise money for anything except a 5-301C non-profit organization. have people done it? yes for years. Will you probably get away with it? yes unless you're audited.

TaekwondoMike,

Good point, but he might mean that his cohort raises money for a non-profit entity, in which case, they would be ok. Still, sound advice Mike!

A what? Well as far as I know the charities we are raising money for (Islamic relief, CAFOD and the Christina Noble foundation) are non profit.

Ok, Thanks for the help. By the way, are you in the U.S? I'm not following any of this CPA, IRS stuff. If you are talking British laws i really should open a book or two before i start these events.

ah, glad thats cleared up, i think the same laws might apply here in the UK but martial arts schools are pretty much under the radar here, its fairly easy to raise money for whatever cause and dodge the taxman, not that we've got any intention of that
