ramcalgary Posted April 6, 2002 Posted April 6, 2002 My advice would be first see a doctor to check your health before doing anything drastict Eat healthy make wise food choices....veggies ,lean meat complex carbos Tons of water If and only if you are ok'ed by a doc begin an exercise program. Try walking at first maybe some stretching just to get your body used to physical exercise Honor is the most important thing a man has once you lose it it is gone forever
TKD_McGee Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 We can tell you a lot of things but none of it is going to work until you actually put some inititive into your ideas and turn them into actions. Start off slowly by cutting back on the things you enjoy. This may be watching lots of tv of sitting on the computer a lot, or this could be eating your favorite fatty foods or drinking soda. Next put yourself on a healthy diet, with the correct foods and all the exercising that you can handle. No miracle diet or eating only diet foods is going to help you. The only thing that can help you is you. After you have over come these obstacles go to the next phase which is making your life uncomfurtable. Force yourself to do things that you dont want to do. Running, Lifting Excess Weights or whatever it takes. You have to tell your body to do something and not put it off or give in. You get out what you put in. Just like in Martial Arts you get out what you put in. The more you put in the better you will end up. Think about that. Oh yea also don't do anything dangerous, do as much as you can take. You dont want to end up in the hospital with some serious malnutrition or something. _________________ Do unto others, as they done to you. Ahazmaksya Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 Yeh, when you have spare time instead of watching Tv or going on the computer, play some sports or go for a ride or something.

rabid hamster Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 Hiya Dbzhub, I heard eating and drinking a lot of water at the same time is really bad because it causes indigestion and makes you fat. So try not to drink too much while eating a meal. Also when you exercise be sure to stop and rest if you feel pain, espeically if it's somewhere important like your knees. For me, I lost about 3 pounds by making sure not to eat any red meat at all and eating some veggies. But if you decide not to eat red meat you should eat beans because they have lots of protiens that red meat gives you. Hmm well that's all I can think of. YODA Posted April 7, 2002 Posted April 7, 2002 Some decent advice has been posted so far - the best advice I can give you is to be very careful who you take advice from when it concerns your health. Everyone in cyberland can give you advice - and that's one of the dangers of accepting it. Listen to advice - check up sources of info & credentials for giving the advice - then make up your own mind. Here's my advice for what it's worth... Eat 5 to 6 small meals per day Drink lots of water - rule of thumb - don't get thirsty Take a general multivitamin & mineral supplement Eat 1200 - 1500 Caloroes per day - high protein, moderate complex carbs, low fat. Do moderate intensity aerobic training for 30-45 minutes 3 times per week. Do one high intensity interval session once per week. Do weight training with moderate weight in the 8-12 rep range twice per week. Monitor your bodyfat % as well as your weight - use calipers if available to measure change. Get on the weight loss club thread & keep us posted with your progress - let's support each other in the progress towards our goals. ramcalgary Posted April 8, 2002 Posted April 8, 2002 starving yourself will not kcik start your bodies food burning process. When you starve your body it stores fat. Try eating 5-6 meals a day not huge meals but 6 similar calorie meals. This will help your body to avoid feeling starved. i would suggest a water arobics class or similar activity. The water allows you to begin exercising and not put severe stress on your joints. You must change your lifestyle. If you only change what you eat it will make it hard for you to resist falling back into the same slump that got you where you are today. Most people watch way to much tv and time sitting around doing nothing. check out your friends and see if they have the same problem you do. Maybe you could get several of them to begin execising with you good luck and remember losing 50 pounds starts with the first pound. It will be a long process but once you have started to lose some weight you will not beleave much more energy you have Honor is the most important thing a man has once you lose it it is gone forever
