Dbzhub Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 Hello. I am 15 years old. And I'm fat. Im about 35-40 lbs over wieght and i've tried a lot of things they just dont seem to work Now tommorow (Saturday) I will be starting a new diet. If anyone was like me but lost weight and is now skinny and in shape please help me and tell me what you did to achive that. Or any help or suggestions would be nice (and yes I do go outside a lot at least 4 hours a day) Do or do not, there is no try
ad Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 sure ill give it a try listen to what i say though, dont just think its any old bullshit and you have heard it all b4, try the things i tell you, and i am sure you will loose some weight, lets start of with the basics, eating right, well that seems to do nothing right?, yeah thought so, lets do some excercise, your probably thinkin that "oh crap i cant be arsed", well get of your arse and do some, the best way to loose weight, and to reach "the fat burning zone", is do what is known ad your anerobic threshold, what the hell am i on about?, i tell you, when you reach anaerobic threshold you are breathing intensely, but its not the oxygen from the air your using up, its the energy and FAT in the body that provides the body to resore its self to its natural resting heart beat GREAT, but how exactly do i reach this threshold??, in order to this , you need to do sets of press ups and crunches, turning kicks, squat thrusts, whatever floats your both, under a timed session, for example, how many press ups you could do in a minute, if you keep up timed excercises, and see how much you could do in a set time, then it will REALLY benefit you, and it will make you reach the anaerobic threshold that you want, measure yourself each month or week, to see how the number of excercises increases gradually, and also how you will be loosing loads of pounds of weight, if you want to stretch yourself more, and see how long you could timed excercise in a different timing session, then i suggest your try the tabata timing system, if you want info on that, then pm the man jack, i dont wanna get credit for what he told me, or you could check out this link, courtesy of jack http://www.cbass.com/interval.htm if you have any more queries just pm me, peace Brown Sash Hsing I/Lau Gar Kung FuBrown Belt San Shou17 yr oldhttp://www.selfdefencehelp.co.uk

G95champ Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 Im 315lbs myself. I have found that the best way to drop weight is to simply run. Run and run and run. Start with like half a mile and work up. No need in ever running anymore than 2. Even if you can't run the whole thing dont stop moving slow to a jog or walk but don't stop. The other is to drink water instead of Coke, Pepsi and other forms of Pop. Carboniated Water in pop lays arround in you belly if you drink water lots and lots of watler Im talking like a galoon a day you will loose a lot of weight fast becasue it cleans out all the fat just laying arround doing nothing. So run and drink water. By the way lifting weights is great but be warned if you lift you will not loose weight because the fat turns to muscle and you may actuall get heavier on the scales and you wont loose the size as quick but it will be tone. (General George S. Patton Jr.) "It's the unconquerable soul of man, and not the nature of the weapon he uses, that ensures victory."
KickChick Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 Unfortunately it may not be that simple to Dbzhub. Let us know what type of diet you are actually going on ... and maybe we can all make some suggestions! ... You may honestly have a sluggish metabolism in which you might just have to engage it a bit. Remember it took some time putting on the weight and it will ake some time to get it off.
Bon Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 lol, ehm... Lots of cardio.. for at least 30-45min, 3-4 times a week. Eat 5-6 small meals a day to keep your metabolism up. It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
Bon Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 Heh, I clicked on reply after ad's post and all you guys posted while I idled on IRC. Dang. =/ It takes sacrifice to be the best. There are always two choices, two paths to take. One is easy. And its only reward is that it's easy.
spinninggumby Posted April 5, 2002 Posted April 5, 2002 Yea I think that running or any type of aerobic exercise for extended periods of time is a great way for weight loss. Just remember to stretch thoroughly before and afterwards! Aerobic exercise is the best way to burn fat (as well as lose weight, since not much muscle-building is stressed). Most of your diet should include lots and lots of fiber (i.e. from fruit and veggies and oatmeal). The best type of aerobic exercise (as in most strenuous and the one that works your whole body the most) is cross-country skiing, but if you don't want to go through the effort of renting equipment and driving up to the slopes every day, a Nordic Track or some type of machine which utilizes your whole body will do (but it may be a bit boring). Maybe you can watch TV while you do it  Good luck 'Conviction is a luxury for those on the sidelines'William Parcher, 'A BEAUTIFUL MIND'

Jack Posted April 6, 2002 Posted April 6, 2002 Courtesy of Jack should Courtesy of Yoda, he first made the post introducing us to Tabata intervals. Dbz is actually sounds like you're not eating very much at all. Nothing too wrong with this except if you eat so little your metabolism will slow down to balance this out. To counter this you need to keep giving your metabolism boost. Caffeine is great for this, but dehydrates the body so make sure you have plenty of water to counter the affects. You can also boost the metabolism with 10 minutes cardio sessions to get the heart pumping fast. The thing which most people fall for are these "Slim fast" diets and all that commercialised stuff. The only thing that will do is lower your caloric intake, and maybe intake more healthy things... however, it does not take the metabolism long to slow down to counter this, so if you ever eat more than what's on that diet, it will have trouble coping with all that food and so you actually get more fat, lol. Eat little, keep the metabolism high, and keep hydrated with lots of water. And exercise like hell! Best of luck JackCurrently 'off' from formal MA trainingKarateForums.com
