True story

Read this and possibly rethink the way you train.

THIS IS A TRUE STORY.

One day a federal agent was stopping a man that he thought was a suspect that he was pursuing. When the man got out of the car, he had a gun, but as he lifted the gun the federal agent preformed an absolutely perfect disarming. And then HANDED THE GUN BACK TO THE MAN. The agent was able to get the gun back again but was shot in the shoulder in the process. Later he found out why he handed the man his gun back. It was because in his training he had disarmed his buddy, handed him the gun back, and disarmed him again. The agent had done this thousands of times. So when the time came that he had to disarm someone, he did exactly what he did in training. So now all federal agencies train like this. Disarm opponent, step back, point gun at opponent, wait, give gun to another person, and that person gives the gun back to the origanal holder.

the morale of this story is "Be careful how you train"

"I am your judge, Executioner, jury, Executioner, lawyer, prosecutor, and if necessary... your Executioner"

you will react like you train. Very interesting story though.

One of our most basic tenets at my school is "Train as if it were real!"

one day, it may just be.

When a man's fortunate time comes, he meets a good friend;

When a man has lost his luck, he meets a beautiful woman.

I heard a story similar to that...

A teenager was attacked on the street with a knife, he disarmed the attacker and took him down. When the attacker stood back up, the teenager handed the knife back and bowed.

No idea if its true or not.

:o Oh... my... gosh. Those are crazy stories. That's something to worry about, isn't it? People really should think about the application of moves, their meanings, and not just barrel through everything mechanically. Whenever we do bunkai, I'll try to remember what I've read today.
